An exhibition that explores interweaving as a metaphor for the interconectedness of time, memory and material. The six artists come from different generations, with very diverse backgrounds, and all start from different points of departure. What connects them within this process is that each one relates in their own way to the concept of “fabric,” in the broadest sense. This can manifest as a physical fabric made of natural elements, but also as a biological structure, or as a social and cultural network within organizations and societies.
One might also consider the “fabric” of history, in which different time periods and generations influence one another and become interwoven in the infinite layering of connections that shape our reality.

The concept for Weaving Presence emerged from a series of encounters and studio visits between the artists, each of whom works from their own practice on themes such as connectedness, loss, identity, and the layered nature of experience. Weaving Presence is a nomadic project that will kick off at Quartair this year.
