“The hand of the human may be distinguished by the precision grip; however, the humanity of the hand, Heidegger argued, lies in its possession by the word. ‘Man does not “have” hands, but the hand holds the essence of man, because the word as the essential realm of the hand is the ground of the essence of man’ (Heidegger). Thus language holds the hand, and the hand holds man.” – Tim Ingold (Making Anthropology, Archaeology, Art and Architecture, 2013)

A group of artists selected by Quartair go to Lana from April 28th to May 4th in the context of a cultural exchange between Southern Tirol and Den Haag. The title, The Second Explodes, refers to a happening, apparently fleeting encounters (between artworks/public/artists), or an explosion of events that will take place within a short time span.
The explosion starts with a stream of associations. Besides showing existing artworks, the starting point for the artists will be to create site-specific work and performances. The Second Explodes is a happening, with film, performance, drawings, paintings, installations and sound. Don’t miss the artwalk on Saturday! A master of ceremonies will accompany the visitors and he will put the different happenings and artworks in the spotlight.
